Case Study: Beating the AOG deadline
Recently, a client faced an urgent AOG situation when an oversized aircraft part was needed in Antalya, Turkey. The shipment, sourced from Phoenix, Arizona, at 0600hrs local time on a Sunday, measured 153 x 61 x 31 cm and weighed 10 kg.
The part was required in Antalya by 02:00hrs on Tuesday, giving a total of 44 hours for our on-board couriers to meet the deadline.
Initially, the available routing options, which included flights from Phoenix to Antalya via Los Angeles (PHX-LAX-IST-AYT), would not have arrived in Antalya until 09:30hrs on Tuesday, a full 7.5 hours after the required deadline. This would have caused significant delays for the aircraft’s 08:00hrs scheduled flight.
However, our specialist AOG team quickly identified a more efficient solution. By securing a flight from Phoenix to London Heathrow (PHX-LHR), the part arrived in Heathrow at 12:35hrs on Monday. Upon arrival, our on-board courier (OBC) arranged a self-transfer from Heathrow (LHR) to London Gatwick (LGW) to catch a 1800hrs flight. This flight arrived in Antalya at 00:10hrs on Tuesday, leaving a comfortable 1 hour and 50 minutes before the 02:00hrs deadline.
In total, the solution took 42 hours and 10 minutes, ensuring the part arrived ahead of schedule. The aircraft was repaired in time for its planned flight at 08:00hrs, avoiding further delays and preventing the client from incurring costly operational losses.
When faced with an AOG situation, time is of the essence. Our global network, specialised on-board couriers, and 24/7 availability ensure that no matter where your aircraft is grounded, we can provide the fastest, most reliable solution to get it back in the air.
