With restricted port operations and airlines cancelling, suspending and reducing flights into and out of China, supply chains between Europe and China are significantly disrupted leading to an upsurge in rail enquiries. And with Maersk announcing further blanked, we are expecting further interest in the mode.

When the factories re-open after the extended holidays and completed orders are released, to join consignments already suspended in the supply chain, there is going to be an awful lot of demand for freight space to Europe.

Some forecasts suggest that container lines may blank a total of 58 sailings from Asia to Europe, compared with just 25 in the same period last year.

Consequently we are receiving a lot of requests from clients to receive their cargo quickly when the factories do re-open.

Understandably, many of these clients will be eager to shorten the long transit time of sea freight, but without the cost of transporting the whole shipment by air freight.
