The Golden Week holidays start on Saturday the 1st October with National Day and our offices in China and Hong Kong will be closed for the public holidays.

In the run up to the holidays, factories typically rush to finish production and make pre-Golden Week sailings before workers leave, which traditionally constrain freight space that, in normal times, would be very tight due to the peak season.

We would normally expect to see blank sailings immediately after Golden Week, as carriers seek to optimise vessel utilisation, this year the carriers are blanking sailings to try and support rates.

Asia-North Europe blanked sailings will remove just under 20% of TEU capacity which, while is in line with 2019, but higher than the 2014-2018 average.

We are monitoring the situation closely and would urge you to share your forecasts, book shipments ahead of time, or contact us directly, if you have urgent or critical consignments.
