We are deeply saddened to report the loss of our founder, Ken Norman, who passed away peacefully in December.

Ken Norman started his forwarding career in the summer of 1947, with C Shaw Lovell & Sons in Thames House EC4, as a junior clerk.

He stayed with Shaw Lovell for 18 years, until the office was closed in 1965 and operations moved to Tilbury, when he took a new position in the City at Cawood Wharton, handling sea freight imports.

In 1970, when a client approached Ken to work as his Shipping Manager, Ken decided instead to set up his own Company – Norman Shipping Services Ltd, and quickly attracted three Cawood clients to support him.

He grew the Company successfully for 20 years until 1990 when he retired, handing over to the current management team.

He followed the business’ success through the years which in 2020 reached its 50th milestone. Sadly due to the pandemic it was not possible to celebrate the event.

Ken passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at home in Marlow with his wife Pat by his bedside.

Ken was always an advocate of the business and will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ken’s widow Pat and the entire Norman family.
